When your scar affects everyday life

What do you feel?
What bothers you?

Your scar may still be sensitive. Or it may be many years old. We begin with what you notice today.

  • The scar pulls, feels tight or reacts to touch.
  • The skin feels hard, numb or different.
  • Clothing, movement or closeness feels uncomfortable.
  • You would like to feel more at home in your body again.

Not every symptom around a scar is caused by the scar itself. If the cause is unclear, medical assessment is needed.

The NEOSCAR® method

A clear process.
Personal attention.

I developed NEOSCAR® through my many years of work with scars. Every appointment begins with listening.

01

Understanding your scar

We talk about the procedure, your recovery and your current symptoms. Together, we define a goal that matters in your daily life.

02

Explaining the application

Four special NEOSCAR® magnetic pens are used along the scar. The skin is not pierced. Every step is agreed with you.

03

Looking at your progress

What do you notice? What stays the same? We look together. The pen application usually takes 5–15 minutes and is only one part of the appointment.

NEOSCAR® is complementary scar support. No robust clinical evidence demonstrating specific effects of the magnetic pen method is available here. No particular outcome is promised.

Which scar is on your mind?

Every scar has
its own context.

The type of surgery, the condition of your skin and your own experience determine the next step.

After surgery

Knee, hip, hand and more

If clothing irritates your skin or it pulls during permitted movement, we distinguish skin sensitivity from deeper symptoms.

The practice photos show a woman after numerous foot operations and skin grafts. She reported restricted movement and troublesome scars.

Individual cases are not clinical evidence of effectiveness and do not predict your scar’s outcome. Photography conditions differ; other treatments and natural healing may influence progress. Dates, intervals and a standardised outcome assessment are not available here for these photos.

Uli Gutbrod in a personal conversation

Uli Gutbrod

I see the scar.
And I listen to you.

A woman who had undergone two breast cancer operations asked whether I could do something for her scars. That question became the starting point for my in-depth work with scars.

Today, I combine personal support with careful attention to the procedure, the skin and your experience. My books explore the questions I encounter repeatedly in my work.

“Your scar deserves personal attention.”

The professional perspective: understanding surgical scars.

50 chirurgische Narben

Different procedures leave different scars. The book explores anatomy, the context of surgery and possible symptoms. It helps distinguish the visible skin scar from deeper structures.

Narbenhaut & Seelenkraft

After breast cancer, questions about the body, femininity and closeness may arise. The book makes room for them without prescribing a particular way of processing the experience.

Good to know

There is room
for your questions.

A good decision needs clear information.

When can scar support begin?

When the wound is fully closed and sufficiently resilient. Timing depends on the procedure, recovery and medical clearance. An open, weeping or inflamed area needs medical care first.

What happens during a NEOSCAR® application?

Four special magnetic pens are used in a defined sequence along the scar. The skin is not pierced. The pen application usually takes 5–15 minutes; this is not the duration of the entire in-person appointment.

How much time should I allow?

Allow about an hour for your first in-person appointment. We discuss the actual scope beforehand. The brief pen application is only one part of it.

What does it cost?

The information call is free. The first in-person assessment and check of whether your scar is suitable for the NEOSCAR® method costs €90. We agree the scope and cost of further applications in advance. You then decide whether you would like an appointment.

What can I expect from the method?

We discuss a personal goal, such as more comfortable skin contact or less superficial tightness. Whether and how symptoms change varies individually. No robust clinical evidence demonstrating specific effects of the magnetic pen method is available here. I cannot guarantee a particular outcome.

Can I come without showing my scar?

Yes. An initial conversation can take place without looking at your scar. You decide what may be shown or touched. Each application step is explained and requires your consent.

What if I have a pacemaker or another implant?

Electronic implants such as pacemakers, defibrillators, neurostimulators or certain pumps must be explicitly discussed before a magnetic pen application. Whether an application is permissible must be clarified with the responsible medical team or the manufacturer’s instructions. Without this clarification, it will not take place.

Can I ask about an older scar?

Yes, an older scar can be a reason to talk. First, we clarify the symptoms and, where necessary, their cause. The age of the scar alone predicts neither suitability nor a successful outcome.
